Quinapril belongs to the class of medications called ACE inhibitors. It is used for the treatment of high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It works by relaxing blood vessels and by making the heart pump more efficiently. Quinapril may be used in addition to diuretics (water pills) known as thiazide diuretics (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide) when one medication has not been found to control blood pressure satisfactorily.

dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting (signs of low blood pressure)
skin rash, with or without itching, fever, or joint pain

Rare:
abdominal pain, abdominal distention, fever, nausea, or vomiting
chest pain

Signs of too much potassium in the body:
confusion
irregular heartbeat
nervousness
numbness or tingling in hands, feet, or lips
shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
weakness or heaviness of legs
Get medical help immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare:
fever and chills
hoarseness
swelling of face, mouth, hands, or feet
trouble swallowing or breathing (sudden)
stomach pain, itching of skin, or yellow eyes or skin
